Why verify a PayPal account?

If you have a PayPal account, you might find yourself restricted from sending and receiving money in some cases. This is because your account is unverified. It some instances, some sellers may even reject a payment from unverified accounts. By verifying your account, you show that you are willing to insure your payment comes from an adequate, legitimate source. Verifying your PayPal account also lets you send or receive money instantly and without any limits.

How to verify a PayPal account
The easiest way to verify any PayPal account is to link it to your bank account. If you signed up with PayPal to avoid using your bank account, debit card or credit card, you may want to continue being unverified. However, since PayPal does offer you insurance should something happen and your bank will as well, having a bank account linked to your PayPal account makes you a more secured buyer and seller in the eyes of those doing business with you.
In order to set up your bank account, you will need your account and routing number. From there, login to your PayPal account and click on Profile. Once there, click on Bank Accounts under the Financial Information bar. Click on Add Bank, enter your banking information, confirm it and then PayPal will make one or two small deposits into your account. Once deposited, you enter this amount in the same screen and this confirms you have linked your bank account to your PayPal account. Once linked, you can send money to and from your bank account at will.

What to do if you cannot verify a PayPal account
You can also verify your PayPal account by linking it to a debit or credit card. As long as the debit card can be used like a Visa, Mastercard or Discover card, you can use it to verify your PayPal account. Click on the Profile tab and then navigate to the Financial Information list, click on Credit/Debit Cards and then click on Add a Card. Enter in your card information along with the billing address and then click on Add Card. PayPal will charge a small amount to the card to verify it is yours. Once set up, this also verifies your PayPal account.
